I am Irish I can say that after over 10 years of growth and alomst full employment it is a disgrace that now the first recession comes we have to punish the most vulnerable in our society; the young and the old.
It seems our Celtic Tiger was just trick so that we would all borrow money to buy expensive houses from each other and employ a massive contruction sector. Now the houses are worth less then the loans we used to pay for the houses. So nobody buys houses anymore and the construction sector is out of business. We got drunk on cheap money and now the hangover is setting in.
We should have stayed with getting drunk on Guinness.
