Gene Bogolepov is a queer artist who started their career more than 20 years ago in Russia and had to flee the Putin regime to be reborn and start anew in Berlin. Gene is a self-promoting artist who struggles with the classic specter of capitalism and related mental health issues. They run their own website and Patreon page, organize concerts and tours, DJ, and perform in films and shows, but also combine this with having a so-called real job at a language school. Sharing their experience of bureaucracy and the pain of dealing with the world is one way they endure the journey. Foto: Sasha Perova
