Watch the Med!
taz.talk: Adam Bahar, Carla Höppner und Jonas Rudolph, Watch the Med - Alarmphone
Initiated by civil society actors the project started in October 2014 and sets up a self-organized hotline for refugees in distress in the Mediterranean Sea. By documenting human rights violations public pressure is built-up to rescue and to stop illegal practices of the authorities.
The Alarmphone-Project sees itself as a transnational actor in the field of militarized borders causing uncountable deaths in the Mediterranean Sea and tries to support migrants on their way crossing the Med. During the talk at the taz.lab 2016 the history and the practices of the project will be discussed as well as possibilities of practicing international solidarity in times of Fortress Europe strengthening its visa regimes will be presented.
This talk will take place in English.
